MASSAGE TREATMENTS
Massage treatments for relaxation, sports and medical massages
The art of massage is far more than mere touch - it is a powerful source of relaxation, whether for pure recuperation, as a supportive measure in sport or as part of medical therapy.
🌿 Relaxation massages: relaxation for body and soul
One of the fantastic effects of massage, almost like magic, is its stimulation of hormone balance in the body. Hormones govern our mood in all its variations – from anger, fear, sorrow, and stress (cortisol, adrenaline) to joy, excitement, anticipation, and happiness (dopamine, endorphins). We even have a hormone for relaxation, love, and emotional attachment (oxytocin).
The Massage Hormone: Oxytocin
Gentle touch (read: relaxation massage) significantly stimulates the release of oxytocin. This is why one feels a bit sluggish and almost euphoric after a long and gentle massage treatment. This hormone is the same one triggered during breastfeeding, so the "nursing high" is an experience everyone – including men – can have on the massage table. Oxytocin inhibits the release of the stress hormone cortisol, making it a crucial factor in stress management.
Relaxation massage is the best form of treatment for stress.
God blood circulation = no pain
When we apply muscle grips during a massage, we essentially squeeze the blood out of the muscles into the veins, leaving the muscle devoid of old blood. Fresh blood then flows from the arteries into the muscle, replenishing it with oxygen and nutrients. It doesn't take long for the metabolism to kick in, lactic acid dissipates, and consequently, the pain disappears. Two minutes of diligent kneading on a muscle is usually enough for a satisfied sigh from the client.
Brain Stretch=central nervous system.
In the muscles and the tendons connecting them to the skeleton, there are nerve cells that react when they are stretched. Signals then go from the muscle to the central nervous system, indicating that it is being pulled. Overstretching is alarming to the cells, so the brain will investigate. If the stretch is too intense or happens very quickly, the brain will perceive it as a dangerous situation and will use all means to get the body out of it. But if the stretch is moderate and slow, the brain will interpret it as unproblematic and instruct the muscles to relax.
